Whether it’s due to an injury or a structural problem within your foot, arch pain is common and can make walking, running, jumping, and many other activities that require fancy footwork unpleasant. It also acts as a shock absorber for every step you take. Your arch runs along the bottom of your foot from your heel to the ball of your foot and helps bear some of the weight of your body. If you suspect a Lisfranc injury or even a midtarsal joint sprain, then seek medical advice immediately.Ī midtarsal joint sprain is an injury or tear to any of the ligaments holding the midtarsal bones together. Swelling is likely on the top of the foot and there will be tenderness over the joint area.There may be some bone deformity visible but not always.In particular, going up onto your toes will be painful.You will have difficulty putting any weight on the foot.It occurs in the middle of the foot at the joint where the short tarsal bones meet the long metatarsal bones in the foot. Lisfranc injury is a dislocation or fracture in the midfoot area, and if missed can have serious long-term implications.
